Singapore Helped American Star Student Come Up Tops
245,000 Americans took the American College Testing examinations in
2000, which is similar to the Scholastic Aptitude Tests (SAT), and he came
up tops.
William, an 18-year-old American student, made headlines in Denver,
Colorado, USA when he was featured in The Denver Post.
He was the only one in Denver and one of 11 in the United States to get
a perfect score of 36 in the examinations.
William credits his success to the primary school education he received
in Singapore from 1990 to 1995.
He said, "My education here has definitely prepared me for
whatever the American system can throw at me.
"I saw my friends being very motivated to do well for themselves
as well as for their families and the school.
"This kind of respect you don't get so much in the States."
